Honoring Our Ancestors Celebration

Join us for a special community celebration to honor our ancestors.

We have a beautiful arrangement of activities, live music, makers market and a community altar for you to celebrate and enjoy!

12-3 p.m. Bouquet Making Workshop with Areli Perez

Join Floreser founder Areli Perez for a bouquet-making workshop. Create your own locally grown floral arrangement to take home or to add to the community altar. $25/person, advance registration required as seating is limited. Sign up here.

3-6 p.m. Live Music on the back patio

Enjoy a lineup of incredible local musicians sharing songs from their roots:

12-6 Maker’s Market featuring local artisan vendors

Come shop beautiful, locally made and upcycled apparel, jewelry and more. Makers include PreetWorks upcycled clothing, Esi African, Intuitive Essence and Don Wapo hot sauce.

6-7 p.m. Burning Burn Ritual with live violin songs by Jamie Shadowlight

Bring a letter, love note or poem to send to your ancestors or loved ones who have passed on in this special burning bowl ritual. We are honored to have world-renown violinist Jamie Shadowlight offer her ethereal violin songs to accompany this sacred experience.

7-9 p.m. Ancestral Open Mic (indoor experience with limited seating: ticket required)

Join us for a special convergence of culture, lineage and ritual.

On this eve, the Ancestors will be Celebrated, Honored and Called in to be Felt, Heard and Seen. We will begin our Open Mic Honoring the four directions with Nazdira Cuevas and transmitting Words of Wisdom Storytelling to respect our Elders and the Land we are on right here in San Diego, Califas. Nazdira will offer a cacao circle in honor of her teacher and Kakaw Sana founder Paola Garcia, with permission from her family. 

Cacao will be followed by Guided Meditation (Meeting the Ancestral Self), Mantra (Sanskrit Chants), Pranayama (Breathing) and Movement Medicine practices led by Kirti Srivastava (www.dilseculture.com) to will tap into the energy of the ancestors and complete our time together with a WombCypher consisting of improvisational play, channeling and transmitting.

7-9 p.m. Community Fire Circle on the patio (open to all)

Enjoy our back patio space for an open circle. Campfire stories of old from your ancestors and loved ones encouraged!

9:30 p.m. Ancestral Community Potluck

Wear something to honor your ancestors and bring a family favorite dish to share with the community. This will close out our celebration with good food and community!

Community Altar

Our Community Altar opens on Tuesday, October 26th at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring any offerings to honor your ancestors and loved ones that you would like to contribute any time throughout the week. This is a co-creative community ritual. Note that the altar will be outside at times unattended, so keep this in mind when choosing your offerings. Any items remaining on the altar on November 2nd will be lovingly returned to the earth.
