Our Story
Located in the heart of historic Normal Heights, Maya Moon Collective is Southern California’s first cacao cafe and community collective.
Maya Moon Collective brings decadent, all-natural chocolate confections, ceremonial drinking cacao and a selection of organic, gluten free and/or vegan pastries, desserts and savory farm-to-table bites to one of San Diego’s most hip neighborhoods. Our handcrafted seasonal menu features organic cacao from South America in a creative assortment of decadent eats: everything is naturally sweetened with zero refined sugars and pairs perfectly with a selection of sustainably sourced teas and herbal elixirs. We are proud to source seasonal fruits and vegetables from local farmers for our savory eats. Try our chocolates paired with Moon Flower craft zero proof cocktails on Friday-Sunday nights.
Building from founder Kathryn Rogers’ success selling artisan cacao truffles, including her signature chakra chocolate box and herbal drinking cacaos, at local events and online, Maya Moon Collective is her flagship brick-and-mortar concept. The historic building from the 1920’s features exposed 14 foot wood ceilings from its original construction, paired with bright natural lighting and a clean and modern aesthetic. The 1500 sq ft space was designed by Steffi Reyes-Thomas of Holistic-Spaces, and it includes garden patio seating and exterior murals by local artists Hannah Stall and Amberella.
In addition to the cafe menu, Maya Moon Collective offers bi-monthly art installations and evening events makers market and community activations. Stop in for a cup of ceremonial cacao and a bite to eat, or join us a moon meditation or connective workshop. We look forward to sharing the decadence and delight of the world of cacao with you!
